Low-cost hajj packages announced

The interim government has unveiled two hajj packages for 2025 with the lowering of pilgrimage costs significantly.

Religious affairs adviser AFM Khalid Hossain announced the new packages at a press briefing at his secretariat office on Wednesday.

This year, the government fixed more than Tk 0.47 million (478,241) as the minimum cost under package one. The cost is Tk 100,598 less than the previous year.

On the other hand, package two will cost more than 0.57 million (Tk 575,680) for hajj pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the adviser said the intending pilgrims would have to pay more

than Tk 0.48 million (483,156) under the private management. Private agencies can announce special packages for performing hajj, according to him.

Hajj for the year 2025 will be held on the ninth day of Zilhajj (June 05) depending on the sighting of the moon. A total of 127,198 pilgrims from Bangladesh will perform hajj next year.

In 2024, the government set Tk 0.57 million (578,840) as minimum cost under general package, and Tk 0.93 million (936,320) under the special package for hajj under the government management.

This year, the primary registration for hajj began from 01 September and it will continue till November 30 under both government and private operations.
