HeForShe is a solidarity movement that calls upon men and boys to stand up against persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally. The United Nation Women's Campaign was launched by UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon at the UN Headquarters.
On the occasion of the International Women's Day, the global campaign was supported first by Swedish Ambassador Johan Frisell. He declared his commitment to supporting development projects that give equal and increased opportunities for women in Bangladesh labour market.
Others who declared their commitment are member of parliament Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Debapriya Bhattacharya of Centre for Policy Dialogue, Editor of Prothom Alo Motiur Rahman, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP representative Robert D Watkins, Vice President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association BGM Mohammad Shahidullah Azim, professional golfer Siddiqur Rahman, film director Khalid Mahmood Mithu and Jaago Foundation founder Korvi Rakshand.
They also nominated three other male leaders in their respective areas to motivate them to join the movement and work for gender equality.
UN Women Representative in Bangladesh Christine Hunter said gender equality is the centre of development growth and by committing to purposeful action and standing in solidarity with women, men can help achieve the goal.

Motiur Rahman committed to publish special reports, features, editorials, post editorials, roundtable, special interviews in his newspaper within next one year to realise the objective of HeForShe campaign.
