Man 'pushed off' running bus in city, dies

A man died after he was allegedly pushed off a moving bus by its conductor during an argument over fare in Wari area in the capital on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Irfan (48) who had served as an employee of an electrical appliance shop in Nawabpur.

Sub-inspector of Wari Police Station Arafat Hossain told the FE that Irfan was heading to his workplace on a bus named 'Green Bangla Paribahan' from his home in Demra's Sarulia in the capital.

He fell on the road after the conductor pushed him off the running bus near Joy Kali Temple around 11:00 am.

Irfan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition where the attending doctor declared him dead at 12:45pm.

The police officer further said they came to know that conductor Mozammel pushed the man off the bus following an altercation over bus fare.

He said they had seized the bus and its driver. But the conductor Mozammel managed to flee the spot after the incident. A move was underway to file a case, he said.

The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy. Hearing the news, his family members and relatives rushed to the hospital.
