The government's trading arm, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), does not have enough manpower to supply essentials to consumers across the country, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has said, reports bdnews24.com.

Replying to a query from Noakhali-2 MP Morshed Alam on Sunday, he said the government plans to increase TCB's manpower to 275 from 225.

Ahmed said in open market economy, the market is usually controlled by the businessmen.

But the government took steps to keep the market stable through the TCB.

The steps include increasing the reserve capacity by over 32,500 metric tonnes and number of dealers by nearly 3,000.
