CHITTAGONG, May 17: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has instructed city corporation officials to cancel the work order placed with a construction firm and send a fresh development project profile (DPP) of the Nagar Bhaban for approval of the LGRD Ministry in Dhaka within a month.
An official in the CCC said the piling work involving several million taka for the City Building had been completed. So, it was doubtful the ministry would give a fresh approval to the project.
Nasir Uddin said the 20-storey City Building scheme should be revised and sent to the ministry for approval.
"Please revise the project as a 20-storey building and send it within one month to the Local Government ministry for further approval after paying dues of the contractor for the piling work it has done," he told CCC secretary Abdur Rashid and other officials.
Construction of the 20-storey building has been remaining suspended for the last five years after 50 per cent of the piling work was done, as the scheme worth Tk 488.60 million was not approved by the ministry. Instead, partial construction up to the fifth floor of the building was approved, sources said.
