Ministry seeks info on int'l news agencies' business activities

The Ministry of Information recently sought information on the business activities of international news agencies operating in the country from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Board of Investment (BoI), sources said.
An assistant secretary of the Ministry of Information in separate letters to the NBR and the BoI on October 8 sought this information.
"Of late, we have observed that the international news agencies are doing business in Bangladesh without proper approval of relevant authorities since long," an official of the Ministry of Information told the FE.
When asked, he said the government has a plan to bring such agencies under a policy.
