Modalities of private sector recruitment to be discussed

A Malaysian team is due in Dhaka today (Sunday) to discuss modalities of manpower recruitment from Bangladesh under private sector arrangement, said officials.

The team will be led by director general of immigration of the Malaysian home affairs ministry Mustafa bin Ibrahim during the visit from August 9 to August 11.

On the first day, the delegation members will meet leaders of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) to talk about manpower recruitment issues, said officials.

They will also hold meetings with Bangladesh's Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment (EWOE) minister Nurul Islam BSc and top-level officials to chalk out a plan and modalities to hire manpower from Bangladesh.

The visit has been planned following a decision over manpower recruitment under Business-to-Business (B2B) mechanism at a bilateral meeting between the Malaysian home ministry and the Bangladesh EWOE ministry in Putrajaya in June last.

While talking to the FE, EWOE secretary Khandakar Iftekhar Haidar said following the decision over manpower recruitment from Bangladesh, a working committee has been formed to develop the mechanism.

This working committee is scheduled to visit Bangladesh now, he said. "We will discuss different issues like mechanisms of stopping visa trading and loopholes in the migration process," the secretary said.
