Movement for democracy to continue

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir asserted on Thursday that the people of the country will persist in their peaceful movement for the restoration of democracy and the right to vote until they achieve victory.
Speaking to reporters shortly after being released from jail, he expressed confidence in the ongoing movement, emphasising the continuation of efforts to restore the right to vote.
Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, was released on Thursday afternoon after obtaining bail in various cases related to the political violence on October 28.
The release took place at 3:30 pm from the Keraniganj Central Jail in Dhaka, marking the end of their approximately three-and-a-half-month-long detention.
A warm welcome awaited them at the jail gate, where hundreds of leaders and activists gathered.
On the preceding Wednesday, they secured bail from a Dhaka court in the last pending case against them.
Fakhrul Islam Alamgir assured that there is no reason for frustration among the leaders and activists.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury echoed this sentiment, affirming their commitment to continue the movement.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir faced a total of 11 cases related to political violence during BNP's grand rally on October 28 last year, while Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury faced 10 cases on similar grounds.
The arrests occurred following the October 29 detention of Fakhrul from his Gulshan residence and the subsequent arrest of Khasru on November 3 from Gulshan. Both were implicated in various cases related to attacks, illegal gatherings, vandalism, rioting, and assaults on law enforcement personnel.
