Mrittunjoy helps Rajshahi to win against Rangpur in BPL

Durbar Rajshahi beat Rangpur Riders by 2 runs in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Sunday, report agencies.

Mrittunjoy Chowdhury of Rajshahi starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 18 runs in his four overs. Taskin Ahmed and Mohor Sheikh took two wickets each.

Mohammad Saifuddin made highest score 52 runs off 32 balls for Rangpur and Rakibul Hasan scored 20 off 22 balls.

This victory put Rajshahi in favourable position to claim a spot in playoffs. Rangpur had already made a place in the playoffs.

Earlier, Khushdil Shah and Rakibul Hasan put up a fine spin bowling show to help Rangpur restrict Durbar Rajshahi to paltry 119-9 in their 10th game.

Rajshahi fielded a team without any foreign players but no local players shouldered the responsibility to keep the side flowing.

Left-arm spinner duo Khushdil Shah (3-19) and Rakibul Hasan (2-21) shared five wickets between to cause the havoc, leaving Rajshahi in a state of embarrassment.
