Muggers snatch Tk 10m in separate incidents

Muggers allegedly snatched Tk10.9 million in cash in three separate incidents in the city, leaving three people injured Sunday, reports UNB.

A  group of muggers snatched Tk 9.0 million from BKash employees from a car after shooting its driver near Proshika Bhaban in Rupnagar area around 10:30am.

The driver of the car was shot in the leg, and was taken to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).

Confirming the incident, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) assistant commissioner (Pallabi Zone) Mohammad Kamal Hossain told reporters that the incident seems 'mysterious', and the investigation is on to find out whether it was a staged incident or not.

Meanwhile, muggers looted Tk 1.9 million from the general manager of a general store in Khilgaon area around 12:00pm.

Abul Kalam, general manager of Ekota General Store in Khilgaon area, was carrying the amount to deposit it to a local branch of Dhaka Bank when he was intercepted by 3 to 4 muggers near Goran Tempo Stand.

The muggers shot at his leg and fled the scene snatching the money from him. Later, Abul Kalam was taken to DMCH.

In another incident, a group of muggers, numbering three, intercepted a person near his residence, stabbed him indiscriminately and snatched Tk 80,000 from him.

The incident took place at Rupnagar in Mirpur around 5am when Abdul Aziz( 30), a rickshaw puller and a resident of the area, was returning to his residence from Sayedabad Bus Stand on a CNG-autorickshaw.

Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Aziz brought the money from his village home in Bagerhat to migrate to a foreign country for work, his wife Rabeya told reporters at DMCH.
