Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday hoped that the country would be able to gain 10 per cent growth rate by 2018 with the present government’s efforts to make the local government institutions fairly powerful by the end of its term. “I strongly believe by the end of our term, the local government institutions will be fairly powerful. As a result, implementation of development schemes will substantially improve and that will also give many hopes…..we may move towards a growth rate of 10 per cent by 2018,” he said. The Finance Minister was replying to a query from a reporter at the Finance Ministry Conference room in the afternoon where media personality Shykh Seraj placed a 56-point recommendation to Muhith for his consideration in the upcoming budget for FY ‘15, according to a news agency.
