Finance minister AMA Muhih made on Wednesday indicated contesting the next general elections, but said his participation will depend on the Awami League president Sheikh Hasina's decision.
"I always said the ultimate decision is of Sheikh Hasina," he told reporters at his secretariat office. "Whatever I say, it will never be confirmed until and unless she (Hasina) makes the decision."
Last week, Muhith said good bye to his colleagues while addressing the parliament.
He also said he would not vie for the national election anymore.
On several occasions, Muhith said he would not contest next national polls.
Rather, he said his younger brother Dr A K Abdul Momen, former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, will contest the next polls in his electoral seat, Sylhet-1.
