Municipalities to offer seven digital services

A move is well underway to provide seven services online at 328 municipalities with an eye to helping service-recipients avail them with ease.
The services include holding-tax assessment of municipalities and the filing of public complaints.
The decision was made at a meeting of the National Municipal Digital Service Project held at ICT division in Agargaon area on Tuesday, according to a statement.
Under the project, five digital services were being piloted at a city corporation and nine municipalities.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will provide financial support as a grant for implementing the $8.5-million project.
The South Korean government has approved technical assistance for the project.
State minister for information and communication technology division Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the meeting as the chief guest.
KOICA Bangladesh country director Young-Ah Doh, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, top officials from ICT Division, Bangladesh Computer Council and Local Government Division were also present.
Mr Palak requested the KOICA representative to add five more services under the project on a priority basis.
