Murshid Kuli Khan made BB Deputy Governor

Senior most Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Murshid Kuli Khan has been appointed deputy governor of the central bank for four years term.
The Ministry of Establishment issued a notification Monday in this connection as approved by the President, official sources said.
The appointment will come into effect immediate after his resignation from the incumbent post in the central bank, according to the notification.
A career banker Khan was selected for the post in a competitive method that was recommended by a high-powered search committee of the Finance Ministry.
Khan brings with himself 31-year combined experiences of the central bank, commercial and development banks. Throughout his career, he served as managing directors of the state-owned Janata Bank and Bangladesh Krishi Bank earlier.
Khan joined the BB as an Assistant Director in 1976 through a competitive examination under the Public Service Commission (PSC).
He is scheduled to join the new post today (Tuesday).
