Muslim Chowdhury appointed Sonali Bank chairman

Former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury has been appointed as the chairman of the country's largest government-owned bank, Sonali Bank.

The Financial Institutions Division (FID) of the Ministry of Finance issued a circular to this effect on Wednesday.

Mr. Chowdhury, who also served as a former finance secretary, has been appointed to the position for a three-year term starting from his joining date, as per the circular issued by FID.

Muslim Chowdhury was the 12th Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh. Before taking on the role of Comptroller and Auditor General, he held the position of secretary in the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance.

He is a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance and Accounting with distinction from the University of Birmingham, UK.

He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with Honours and a Master of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
