National export trophies awarded to 71 companies


Some 71 companies received the National Export Trophy for the fiscal year (FY) 2018-19 for their outstanding contribution to the country's export sector.
Among the exporters, Universal Jeans Ltd was crowned with the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy" meant for the best exporting company, for fetching US$ 195.21 million in export earnings in the FY.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi handed over the trophies to the recipients as the chief guest of a ceremony held at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka on Sunday.
Some 28 gold, 25 silver and 17 bronze trophies were given to the businesses in 28 product and service categories. The Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) jointly organised the event. Senior secretary at the commerce ministry Tapan Kanti Ghosh presided over the programme.
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jashim Uddin spoke at the programme as the special guest, while EPB Vice-Chairman AHM Ahsan made the welcome address.
Managing Director of Rifat Garments AK Azad and Managing Director of Universal Jeans Ltd Syed Mohammed Tanvir also spoke on behalf of the award-winning ventures. Members of parliament, dignitaries, business leaders, and high civil and military officials were also present at the event.
The companies were selected on the basis of their export performance, according to the commerce ministry.
Rifat Garments Ltd bagged the gold trophy in the ready-made garment (woven) category while Snowtex Outerwear Ltd and Tarashima Apparels Ltd were awarded silver and bronze trophies respectively.
Besides, GMS Composite Knitting Industries received the gold trophy in the knitwear category while Square Fashions Limited and Flamingo Fashions Limited secured silver and bronze trophies respectively.
In the yarn sector, Square Textiles Ltd secured the gold trophy, Badsha Textile Limited received the silver and Viyellatex Spinning Ltd received the bronze trophy.
Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd received the gold trophy in the textile fabrics sector. Envoy Textiles Ltd and Ha-Meem Denim Ltd won the silver and the bronze trophies respectively.
Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Limited alone secured the gold trophy in the home and specialised textile products sector. Besides, Noman Terry Towel Mills Limited bagged the gold trophy in the terry towel sector.
In the frozen food sector, BD Seafood Ltd, Crimson Rosella Ltd and MU Sea Food Ltd won the gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively.
In the raw jute product sector, International Jute Traders and Uttara Jute Traders, Khulna won the gold and silver trophies respectively.
Besides, Akij Jute Mills Ltd and Janata Jute Mills Ltd secured the gold and silver trophies respectively in packaged jute products, while Karim Jute Spinners Ltd won the bronze trophy.
In the leather goods sector, Picard Bangladesh Ltd and ABC Footwear Industries Ltd got the gold and silver trophies respectively.
In the footwear (all) sector, Bay-Footwear Ltd secured the gold trophy while FB Footwear Ltd secured the silver medal and Akij Footwear won the bronze trophy.
In the agricultural products (excluding tobacco) category, Mansur General Trading Company Ltd, Al-Azmi Trade International and Alin Foods Trade won gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively.
Pran Dairy Ltd won the gold trophy in agro-processed products (except tobacco), while Pran Agro Ltd won the silver trophy and Habiganj Agro Ltd won the bronze trophy.
PRAN-RFL's five companies received export trophies including gold on Sunday for agro-processing and plastic goods.
In the flower foliage category, Rajdhani Enterprise alone secured the gold trophy.
In the handicraft sector, Karupanya Rangpur Limited, BD Creation and Classical Handmade Products BD got the gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively.
Bengal Plastics Limited won the gold trophy, Durable Plastic Ltd won the silver trophy and Banga Plastic International Ltd won the bronze trophy in the plastic products sector.
In the ceramic category of FY 2019-20, Shinepukur Ceramics Limited and Artisan Ceramics Limited got the gold and silver trophies.
In the light engineering sector, M & U Cycles and M/S Meghna Bangladesh Ltd received the gold and silver trophies, while Uniglory Cycle Component Limited won the bronze trophy.
Besides, Energypack Engineering Limited and BRB Cable Industries Ltd bagged the gold and silver trophies respectively under the electric and electronic products sector.
In other industrial products categories, Marine Safety Systems secured the gold trophy, Tasnim Chemicals Complex Ltd secured the silver trophy and BSRM Steels Ltd won the bronze trophy.
In the pharmaceutical products category, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited got the gold trophy, Square Pharmaceuticals Limited won the silver trophy, and Nipro Pharmaceuticals Ltd got the bronze trophy.
In the computer software category, Service Engine Ltd secured the gold trophy while Golden Harvest Infotech won the silver trophy.
Pacific Jeans Ltd, NHT Fashion Ltd and Shasha Denims Ltd won the gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively in the garment sector under EPZ (knit and oven) with 100 per cent ownership of Bangladesh ('C' category).
Pacific Jeans Limited bagged the gold trophy a total of 12 times including FY 2019-20.
Fardin Accessories Ltd bagged the gold trophy and RM Interlining Ltd won the silver trophy in other products and services under the garment sector under EPZ (knit and oven) with 100 per cent ownership of Bangladesh ('C' category).
In the packaging and accessories products category, Montrims Ltd secured the gold trophy, M&U Packaging Ltd secured the silver trophy and Uniglory Paper and Packaging Ltd won the bronze trophy.
Orchid Trading Corporation and Nihao Food Company Ltd won the gold and silver trophies in the other primary products category.
In the other services sector, M/S Expo Freight Ltd and Mir Telecom Ltd bagged the gold and silver trophies respectively.
In the reserved sector (products and services) for women entrepreneurs or exporters, Pioneer Knitwears BD Ltd secured the gold trophy, Beacon Knitwear Ltd secured the silver trophy and Ibrahim Kniw Garments Ltd secured the bronze trophy.
