NBR extends VAT, corporate tax deadlines

FE REPORT | April 16, 2026 00:00:00

The National Board of Revenue has once again extended key tax-filing deadlines, offering relief to businesses and VAT-registered entities grappling with holiday disruptions and technical challenges.

The deadlines extended for both Value Added Tax (VAT) and corporate tax returns.

Under the latest order, the deadline for electronic VAT return filing has been extended to April 23, while the corporate tax return deadline has been pushed to May 15, 2026.

The extension has been made in the public interest, considering the government holiday on the occasion of the Bangla New Year and technical difficulties arising from the e-VAT system upgrade.

Online VAT returns for the tax period ending March 2026 were originally scheduled to be submitted by April 15.

The NBR has issued two separate notifications in this regard.

The new corporate tax return filing deadline will apply to companies maintaining a financial year ending in June 2025.

Under the revised order, companies will be able to submit their income tax returns by May 15.

As per the law, the original deadline for companies is February 15. It was later extended twice by two months, pushing it to April 15, and the new order marks a third extension.
