NBR launches digital truck tracking system at Benapole land port

FE REPORT | December 19, 2025 00:00:00

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has introduced a new "Truck Movement" sub-module under the ASYCUDA World system to digitally track the entry of cargo-laden trucks from India and the exit of empty vehicles.

The initiative aims to strengthen monitoring, transparency and revenue protection, according to an NBR statement.

The pilot operation of the module began on December 15 at Benapole Customs House, replacing the long-used manual system for recording truck movements at the country's busiest land port.

The statement said the digital system will enable customs authorities to maintain accurate data on the arrival and departure of Indian trucks, calculate their length of stay and monitor individual vehicles more effectively.

Officials said the module would improve data management, help prevent revenue leakage, and enhance transparency and accountability in customs operations.

It is also expected to contribute to border security by allowing closer and real-time monitoring of truck movements.

Another key feature of the system is its ability to generate real-time reports, supporting improved decision-making and operational oversight by customs officials.

Following the successful pilot at Benapole, the NBR plans to roll out the Truck Movement sub-module at all land ports across Bangladesh in the near future, as part of its broader effort to modernise customs administration through automation and digitalisation.
