The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has drawn an action plan to increase settlement of cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) by motivating the stakeholders and holding discussions with them.
The board has taken the initiative to expedite settlement of income tax, Value Added Tax (VAT) and customs-related court cases, said a press release of NBR.
As part of the move, the board will hold workshops, seminars and meetings with different levels of taxpayers.
NBR has already instructed its field-level tax officers to sit with their respective taxpayers to discuss about ADR.
Besides, a consultative meeting will be held with different business associations, trade-bodies, chambers and facilitators of ADR at the end of this month. The decisions were taken at a meeting at NBR on Tuesday with the officials of its three wings.
There are some Tk 280 billion taxes involved with the court cases, which can be resolved within a short time through ADR.
