NBR raises duties on sugar, tea import

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) in a statutory regulatory order (SRO) Sunday raised specific duties on import of both raw and finished sugar.

The enhanced duties on raw and finished sugar will, from now on, be Tk 2,000 per tonne and Tk 4,500 per tonne respectively against the previous rates of Tk 1,500 and Tk 3,000 per tonne.

Besides, the NBR also increased regulatory duty on import of tea to 15pc from the previous rate of 5.0pc, officials said.
