In an 18-point special order, issued by Customs and VAT administration wings of NBR on Wednesday, the NBR has sought the automation action plan by October 15, 2024.
However, the plan must include short- and long-term innovation programmes under the expenses of the operational fund of the respective field offices.
"The action plan has been sought for the services remaining outside of the customs (Asycuda world) system or Integrated VAT system," says the order, signed by Customs and VAT administration member Farzana Afroz.
It also instructed the officials to upload all rules, regulations, circular, standing order, special order, and office order in the websites of customs and VAT offices by September 30, 2024.
From October 1, the customs and VAT commissioners will deploy duty officers on roster basis for providing services.
The field-offices would have to conduct regular discussion with the stakeholders to build an effective grievances redress system.
Single-use plastic goods have to be avoided in the customs and VAT offices to comply with the order issued by the Cabinet Division on September 5, 2024.
Customs officials will have to ensure a professional and passenger-friendly environment in the airports for migrant workers and other passengers.
Customs and VAT commissioners will have to physically visit their circle offices once in a month.
By January 1, 2025, all the customs and VAT offices will have to rebuild their website in government format as framed by the Cabinet division.
