NBR to transfer over 100 officials, employees soon

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will soon issue transfer orders to more than one hundred officials and employees to bring dynamism in its administration.
"We are going to issue transfer orders to some 120 officials and employees soon," a senior official of the NBR said.
He further said the NBR, as part of its move to clean the administration of dishonest officials and employees, has identified 60 more inspectors, preventive officers and other officials and employees who are alleged of corrupt practices.
The NBR official said most of the accused got appointment in the service of the NBR submitting false documents under the quota of 'Mujibnagar employees'.
"After serving show cause notices, we have started the hearing process ……. If their reply is not satisfactory we will take stern actions against them including cancellation of their appointment," he said.
Earlier, the NBR issued transfer orders to some 80 officials and employees of various ranks, sources said.
When asked, a senior NBR official said, "We have set our eyes on the customs administration as this the department which can enable us to achieve the revenue target of the current fiscal."
"We are bringing this change in the revenue body after a thorough evaluation of the performance of officials and employees, aimed at boosting revenue collection and bringing dynamism in work," Senior NBR official said.
He said: "This is nothing but routine work. Actually any change should be made at the beginning of the fiscal year, if required."
