NBR urges taxpayers to file returns online

Since the launch of its upgraded system, more than 34,000 individuals have successfully submitted their income tax returns online.
The NBR has congratulated these early filers and urged the taxpayers to make use of the system and file their returns on time via the official portal (www.etaxnbr.gov.bd), according to a statement issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Thursday.
The revamped system, introduced on September 9 this year, is designed to simplify the tax filing process for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
Individual taxpayers can now prepare and submit their returns online with ease, and make payments using internet banking, debit or credit cards, and mobile banking.
The system also allows users to download copies of filed returns, receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates, as well as print e-returns from previous years.
To further assist taxpayers, the NBR has set up a dedicated call centre (09643717171), which provides immediate telephonic support for any issues related to e-returns. Taxpayers can also report problems online via the eTaxService option on the NBR website.
The registration process for the e-return system has also been made more user-friendly. Taxpayers must verify that their mobile numbers are biometrically registered with their National Identity Card (NID) by dialing *16001#.
The NBR also urged the taxpayers to take advantage of the online system and file their returns before the deadline to ensure compliance with tax regulations and avoid penalties.
