FE Report
Plying of vehicles under the lane system on the major city streets began Tuesday with poor response from the transport workers on the first day.
The special move taken by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to ease traffic congestion has witnessed poor response from the drivers as traffic police seized a total of 389 vehicles on charge of violating the traffic rules on the first day of the new initiative.
According to a DMP release, they arrested 17 drivers on charge of traffic-related offences, seized 11 driving licences for three months and 50 licences for indefinite period and collected Tk 61,900 as fine from the violators of the rules.
Meanwhile most of the drivers said the campaign of the DMP step was not enough as many of them were not aware about it.
