In a major reshuffle in the police administration, the government has made AKM Shahidul Haque new Inspector General of Police, reports UNB.
Shahidul Haque who was serving as the additional IGP (Admin) at the Police Headquarters replaced Hassan Mahmood Khandker after over four years.
Besides, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Benazir Ahmed has been made Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) while Deputy Inspector General (Highway) Asaduzzaman Miah replaced Benazir as the DMP chief.
On the other hand, chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) additional IGP Mokhlesur Rahman was transferred to the Police Headquarters, said Senior Secretary Mozammel Haque Khan of the Home Ministry.
The Home Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Tuesday.
The reshuffle is part of a regular process as Hassan Mahmood and Rab DG Mokhlesur Rahman are going on retirement, said the secretary.
