BNP chairperson's adviser SM Hannan Shah Saturday said the party is yet to take any decision about participating in the Election Commission's proposed dialogue with political parties for electoral reforms, reports UNB.
"BNP has not taken any decision in this regard…And there has been no directive from the Chairperson either," he told reporters while distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people at Kamrangirchar in the city.
About the EC's planned meeting with political leaders in Mymensingh where activities to prepare the voter list begin today (Sunday), Hannan said if the EC puts forward any new proposal or discusses reforms, BNP leaders have been asked not to join the discussions.
About media reports that Khaleda Zia got panicked apprehending arrest, he said the Chairperson is not panicked. "Panic and fear is not the same thing."
"The government can take any decision any time," Hannan said, adding, "But, she (Khaleda) had said before that she would face legally if there was any allegation against her."
About Lt Gen (retd) Mir Shawkat Ali who was with him during the relief distribution, Hannan Shah said, "He (Shawkat) had tendered his resignation, but the Chairperson didn't accept it."
Shawkat has been asked to keep on working and he might be seen in an important party position in the future, Hannan added.
Asked to cite reasons behind his resignation, former minister Shawkat said, "At that time, there were rajakars in the party, but now the party is free from rajakars."
