Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain trashed Sunday the media reports that the Libyan government had banned Bangladeshi workers from entering the country, reports UNB.

Talking to the news agency at his office, the minister said, "The Libyan government has not come up with any ban on migration from Bangladesh to Libya through the legal channel. But the Libyan government has mentioned about banning the travel of those who resort to illegal ways."

He also noted that the Libyan authorities might get into a negative idea about Bangladesh jobseekers following the recent outbreak of news on human trafficking from Bangladesh to other countries.

Earlier on Saturday, various newspapers carried a report of news agency Reuters that claimed the Libyan government has banned Bangladesh workers from entering the country because they were trying to travel illegally by boats to Europe.

However, Reuters reported that Libya's official government had banned Bangladeshi workers from entering the country because many were trying to travel on illegally by boat Europe, a government spokesman said on Saturday.
