Nojibur Rahman new principal secy to PM

The government has appointed Md Nojibur Rahman, Senior Secretary of Internal Resources Division (IRD) and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
To this effect, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular on Sunday.
Mr Rahman joined NBR in January 12, 2015 and brought about some revolutionary changes including introduction of tax identity card, tax camp across the country, partnership with media and business chambers.
He will replace Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury whose tenure expired on Sunday.
Talking to the FE, Mr Rahman said tax culture has developed through partnership with stakeholders and media.
"I expect the NBR will continue the momentum with respect to ensuring taxpayers-friendly environment," he said. It will be sustainable as internal ownership has developed, he added.
On challenges of revenue collection, he said there were challenges due to deferment of new VAT law, but NBR has achieved satisfactory growth through motivational campaigns.
He said some innovations including Post Clarence Audit (PCA), National Single Window, Authorised Economic Operator, tax champions, potentiality on new VAT law will help bring about significant changes in direct tax, customs and VAT collection.
