Noted film actor Bulbul Ahmed died of old-age complications at Square Hospital at midnight Wednesday at the age of 70, report agencies.
Family sources said Bulbul had been suffering from a lot of ailments, including hypertension, high diabeties, cardiac trouble. He fell sick at his residence at about 11:30pm Wednesday. He was rushed to the hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Bulbul Ahmed was born in 1941 and entered the film industry in 1972 through the movie 'Yea Kore Bea'.
He left behind his wife, one son, two daughters and a host of friends and well- wishers to mourn his death. The body of Bulbul Ahmed has been kept in the hospital mortuary.
His namaj-e-janaza will be held today (Friday) after Juma prayers on the premises of Film Development Corporation (FDC) office in the city. He will be buried at Azimpur graveyard today (Friday) after a second janaza there.
He became popular after playing key role in Devdas, Simana Periye, Shurjo Konnya, Rupali Shoikotey, Bodhu Bidaay and Bodnaam.
President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad have expressed deep shock at the death of the eminent film personality.
They prayed for peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
