Nothing wrong with 154 MPs elected unopposed: Speaker

Observing that the unopposed election of 154 MPs was legal, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said  Wednesday they were elected legally, reports UNB.

"There's a provision of uncontested election of MPs in the Representation of the People Order (RPO). The (national) election was held legally and we were elected under a legal framework," she said.

The Speaker was addressing a press meet organised by Bangladesh Parliament Journalists' Association (BPJA) at the Parliament Members Club at the Sangsad Bhaban in the city.
