NTPC of India, EGCB sign deal

NTPC Limited, India's largest state-owned power generator, entered into an agreement with Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh Limited (EGCB) Tuesday for providing operation and maintenance services for 2x120 MW Gas-based Siddhirganj Peaking Power Plant, reports UNB.
NTPC Ltd Additional General Manager AN Mishra and EGCB Secretary Kazi Nazrul Islam inked the deal at EGCB head office in the city.
NTPC Director (commercial) IJ Kapoor, EGCB Chairman MA Muttalib were present during the deal.
Services to be provided by NTPC include transition management and takeover services, operation and maintenance of owner's facility, recruitment and training of owner's staff, health, safety, quality and environment management for a period of six years.
EGCB is expected to benefit from the experience and knowledge base of NTPC in efficiently operating thermal power stations, as well as from world-class best practices, systems and work culture followed by NTPC.
NTPC was selected for this contract through an open international tender. The value of contract is US$ 8.8 million. EGCB will be receiving credit from International Development Association (World Bank) for the O&M Services.
