Vandalism of Shibir's Banner at Fine Arts Faculty

The first day of campaign was marred by an incident at the Faculty of Fine Arts around noon, where banners of the Islami Chatra Shibir panel were torn down, damaged, and defaced.

Dhaka University Shibir Sports Secretary Miftahul Maruf said two banners had been removed and vandalized. He urged the administration to review CCTV footage to identify those responsible.

Assistant Proctor Md. Israfil confirmed that he visited the spot, and said efforts were underway to identify the perpetrators. The candidates could have filed complaints with the Election Commission, if they sought legal remedy.

Chief Election Commissioner Prof. Dr. Jasim Uddin said no written complaint had been filed yet, but necessary action would be taken following complaint submission.

At 5:30 pm, Shibir leaders held a press conference in front of the Fine Arts Faculty gate, protesting the incident and demanding immediate measures. They claimed that some vested groups were attempting to disrupt the electoral environment.

Army Deployment on Election Day to ensure security on polling day, a three-tier plan has been introduced, covering eight voting centers. At the first level, BNCC members and the university's proctorial team will be on duty. Police forces will form the second layer, while the army will be stationed at the seven entry points to the university as a striking force.

If necessary, the army will enter the campus, and after the voting ends, polling centers will remain cordoned off by army personnel until results are declared. During vote counting, no one - other than the authorized officials - will be allowed to enter.

Additional measures include: outsiders will not be allowed in the residential halls for seven days prior to the election, the Dhaka University metro station will remain closed on September 8-9, the entire campus will be sealed off on the election day (September 9) - with access restricted only to the valid students, accredited journalists, and election officials.

To facilitate voting, extra bus trips will be arranged for the off-campus students, with police providing

necessary assistance to ensure smooth transport.
