One killed in Comilla BCL factional clash

A man was shot to death during a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Government Victoria College in the city Thursday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Ahsan Habib Samu (40), Comilla branch director of security-proving agency 'Guard Bangladesh' and son of late Omar Faruk, cousin of MP from Sadar constituency AKM Bahauddin Bahar.

Campus sources said the supporters of BCL leaders Priyom Chakrabarty Rintu and Russell engaged in the clash at the intermediate section of the college around 1:30pm over establishing supremacy.

At one stage, the clash spilled into over nearby Munsefbari area.

Samu stepped in when the rivals were about to fire at Rintu near his house. However, the attackers opened indiscriminately, leaving Samu and Rintu injured.

The injured were first rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Samu dead. Rintu was sent to Dhaka as his condition was stated to be critical.

Another report adds, police recovered the slaughtered body of a Jubo League activist from Senpara of the city's Kafrul area Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Mizanur Rahman ( 22) activist of ward no 94 unit Jubu league and son of Nuru Mia of Senpara, hailed from Dakkhin Kazirchar in Muladi upazila of Barisal district.

Sources at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police camp said that the local people spotted Mizanur's body near his residence around 6 am and immediately informed police.
