One more dies of dengue, 85 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Dengue fever claimed one more life in the country during the past 24 hours until Saturday morning taking the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to nine.

Besides, newly 85 dengue patients were also hospitalised in the 24 hours, official figure reveals.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular health bulletin said of the new cases 72 were hospitalised in the capital city and 13 in other regions of the country.

Among the patients hospitalised in Dhaka city, 33 were taken to public hospitals and remaining 39 were taken to private healthcare facilities.

Dhaka division excluding the capital city recorded two hospitalisation cases while the remaining 11 were hospitalised in Chattogram division.

Currently 332 patients -265 in the Dhaka city and 67 in other districts-are getting treatment at hospitals.

So far 2,580 people have been hospitalised with dengue in the country while 2,239 of them have been released after treatment.

In July, 1,491 hospitalisations for dengue and eight fatalities from the disease were reported. One dengue patient died in June when 737 were hospitalised.
