Online tax return filing resumes today

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) resumes the online tax-return system today (Monday) in a bid to facilitate individual taxpayers to submit their tax returns (e-return) for fiscal year (FY) 2024-25.

A press statement from the NBR says the system introduced in 2021 has facilitated some 61,491 taxpayers in FY 22 followed by 244,481 in FY, 23 and 526,487 in FY 24 to file online tax returns.

Individual taxpayers would be able to register in the system recently upgraded by the NBR for the current FY as per the Income

Tax Act 2023 and the Finance Act 2024.

Taxpayers would be able to prepare their own tax returns, submit it or take a print, pay taxes using mobile financial services (MFS) Nagad, bKash, rocket etc, get instant acknowledgement slip of tax return acceptance by taxmen, receive taxpayers identification number (TIN), last tax year's copy of e-return, print or download proof of tax return submission.

Taxpayers would need and TIN and biometric verified mobile number to register in the system www.etaxnbr.gov.bd.
