Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has expressed her firm belief that the people of the country will see an end to their days of sorrow as Awami League (AL) is in power for the second term in a row through the January 5 parliamentary polls, reports UNB.
She said this in an article she wrote commemorating the 65th founding anniversary of the ruling AL.
The article, titled 'Only Awami League can make it, only Awami League will make it', has already been published by several online media. Several newspapers are also expected to publish it in their Tuesday's editions.
The PM said AL has got the opportunity to keep up the pace of development in the country for the second time with the people's mandate and it will be able to properly utilise this opportunity.
AL is hopeful about meeting the commitments it made to people so that Bangladesh can attain the developed country status by 2021, she added.
"The people of Bangladesh have suffered a lot, sacrificed many things. I firmly believe their days of sorrows will end. The Bangali nation will hold its head high at the international arena," she asserted.
