Parveen Mahmud FCA elected the new Chairman of MIDAS

The 32nd Annual General Meeting of MIDAS was held on Saturday at MIDAS head office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Ms. Parveen Mahmud FCA has been elected as the new Chairman of Micro Industries Development Assistance and Services (MIDAS) by the MIDAS Board of Directors in the 373rd Board Meeting of MIDAS, says a press release.
Ms. Zahida Ispahani, outgoing Chairman of MIDAS welcomed Ms. Parveen Mahmud as the newly elected Chairman on behalf of MIDAS Board. Other members of MIDAS General Body and the Board of Directors, namely Mr. Bazlur Rahman Khan, Ms. Sabina Alam, Mr. Abdul Karim, Dr. S. M. Akbar, Mr. Ghulam Rahman, Dr. Abdul Karim, Mr. Maniruzzaman Chowdhury, Ms. Zereen Mahmud and Mr. Rajiv Prasad Shaha (virtual) were also present in the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Ms. Parveen Mahmud FCA, the newly elected Chairman of MIDAS, is also the Chairperson, Board of Governors, RDRS Bangladesh. She was the Founding Managing Director, Grameen Telecom Trust, and Deputy Managing Director of PKSF. In her varied professional career, Ms. Mahmud has been working with social innovations, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development at grass-root level. She was a practising chartered accountant. Ms. Mahmud was the ?rst woman President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) for the year 2011, and the ?rst female board member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), apex accounting professional body of the SAARC and served ICAB Council for three terms. She was the Founding Chairperson of CA Female Forum-Women in Leadership Committee, ICAB till 2019 and was the Vice Chairperson of the Women in Leadership Committee of SAFA from 2018-20. She sits in numerous Boards including BRAC International, ManusherJonnyo Foundation, PKSF, CPD, Ghashful, Heroes for All, Cider International School, etc. She is Independent Director of Apex Footwear Ltd., Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. And Mario Bangladesh Ltd. She was the Chairperson of Shasha Denims Ltd., Underprivileged Children Education Program (UCEP), and Bangladesh and Acid Survivors' Foundation. Ms. Mahmud was the member, National Advisory Panel for SME Development of Bangladesh and founding board member of SME Foundation. She is the recipient of few accolades for social development and women empowerment: Chittagong Digest Women's Day 2020 Award, Ananyanna Top Ten Women- 2018 Award in 2019; Joya Alokito Nari- 2018 Award from RTV, "Women at Work -2017" Award from Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and "Women of Inspiration Awards-2017" from the Bangladesh Organisation for Learning & Development (BOLD) and Rokeya Shining Personality Award 2006 from Narikantha Foundation.
