Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exchanging views with PMO officials on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Tuesday the Privatisation Commission (PC) and the Board of Investment (BoI) will be merged, report agencies.

"We want to merge the Privatisation Commission and the Board of Investment," she said in her introductory speech at a views-exchange meeting with senior officials of the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the aim of this merger is to expedite the investment and industrialisation in the country.  "I think, there's nothing for privatisation now. We want to see how these [state-run industries] can be utilised for investment in the country," she said.

Hasina said the paper works for this merger has almost been completed. "It awaits implementation," she added directing the all concerned to complete the process soon.

While talking about the enhancing salary and allowances for the government officials and employees, Sheikh Hasina said her government gave pay scale to them in 2009.

"The rises of salary and allowances of the government staff in that pay scale were not nominal, it was a handsome increase of salary and allowances," she said.

The Prime Minister said another pay scale is supposed to be executed from this month. "By the grace of Allah, it is almost ready and we will do it," she said.
