PDB forms probe body

CHITTAGONG, Aug 31: The Power Development Board has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the fire incident at Shikalbaha 60- megawatt power station.
A PDB official said the probe committee would submit its report on the cause of fire within three working days.
The committee is headed by chief engineer of Raozan Thermal Power Plant Abdul Khalek. Two other members are executive engineer of Raozan Thermal Power Plant Kanai Lal Das and assistant director (security) of Shikalbaha 60-megawatt power plant Abul Bashar.
Fire service officials said the fire broke out from a short circuit in the transmission line of the power station, resulting in suspension of power distribution in greater Patiya and south Chittagong area.
