People in the capital and throughout the country are beginning to feel the arrival of winter as they have observed a significant drop in temperatures over the past few days.

The winter season typically spans from December to January.

On Tuesday, Tetulia recorded the country's minimum temperature at 11.8 degrees Celsius.

Dhaka recorded a minimum temperature of 16.9 degrees Celsius on the same day, while the highest temperature reached 24.1 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorological office.

The country has been experiencing cloudy skies for the past few days. Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, a meteorologist at the BMD, said that temperatures have been declining since the beginning of December.

According to Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, the average temperature has dropped by 5.0 to 6.0 per cent between December 1 and December 12.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted mainly dry weather with temporary partly cloudy skies over the country, with a chance of drizzle in some places in the Rangpur division.

The BMD also predicts moderate to thick fog during midnight to morning, with slight drops in night temperatures and nearly unchanged day temperatures.

Additionally, the BMD's 72-hour forecast suggests that a mild cold wave may affect certain areas in the northern and western parts of the country, possibly spreading to adjacent areas.
