GAZIPUR, Sept 30 (UNB): BNP Chairperson's adviser ASM Hannan Shah said Sunday that the caretaker government should hand over power after arranging an election as soon as possible.
Referring to the recent comment of Chief Adviser that a non-elected government should not stay long in power, Shah said, "If he believes so then power should be handed over to an elected government as soon as possible."
He made these remarks while he went to Gazipur to appear before a court in an extortion case.
Shah said the countrymen still have confidence in the leadership of Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina. "If anyone wants to challenge their leadership then he/she can file his/her nomination as a candidate against them."
He said the government should take action against Mannan Bhuiyan through a proper investigation after questions arose about him in public mind.
Shah said the LGRD ministry was number one in the corruption list in the TIB report but how the minister of the ministry was excluded from the list of corrupt people.
Talking about simultaneous movement of BNP and Awami League, he said it (movement) was possible on the issues of establishing democracy and running the government by elected representatives.
