Plainclothes RAB men mistaken for robbers

MANIKGANJ, June 11 (Agencies): Villagers caught 14 members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and handed over them to police suspecting them to be robbers in Shibalaya upazila early Wednesday.

Officer-in-charge of Shibalaya thana Rokibuzzaman said some villagers intercepted a white microbus carrying seven plainclothes members of RAB after it entered Saljana village in the upazila about 2:30am and captured the seven suspecting them to be robbers.

After some times, when another microbus carrying another seven RAB members entered the village, local people halted the vehicle also though its riders identified themselves as members of elite force.

On information, a police team rushed to the spot and the villagers handed over the 14 RAB members to the team.

Shibalay thana OC Md Rakibuzzaman said that police have handed over the RAB personnel to higher officials of RAB-4 in the morning.

The RAB personnel went on a raid to Shaljana village at night.
