JAKARTA, Apr 21 (Agencies): Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina arrived at the Indonesian capital of Jakarta amid a rousing reception on Tuesday afternoon on a three-day official visit to attend the Asian-African Summit 2015.
The VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying Sheikh Hasina and her entourage, landed at the Soekarno Hatta International Airport (SHIA) around 3:35 pm (Jakarta time).
Indonesian Environment and Forest Minister Nurbaya Bakar received the PM at the VVIP Lounge of the airport. A tiny tot garlanded Hasina at that time.
The PM was given a guard of honour by the Indonesian armed forces, while Indonesian girls wearing their traditional dresses welcomed her at the airport.
The PM, accompanied by Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, will lead the Bangladesh delegation to the summit.
The summit is being held in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Asian-African Conference. The first Asian-African Conference was held in 1955 in the Indonesian city of Bandung amid the emerging cold war between two blocks -- East and West. Later, the Bandung Spirit turned into new Asian-African Strategic Partnership in 2005.
Hasina is scheduled to deliver her statement at the plenary session of the summit today (Wednesday).
