Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has pinned hope on innovative young entrepreneurs for a future developed Bangladesh and assures government backup to their entrepreneurial ventures.
"Young entrepreneurs will be one of the driving forces behind building the Bangladesh of tomorrow. Their innovative thinking, creativity and entrepreneurial initiatives will play a vital role in the country's economic development, employment generation and social progress," he told the audience at Dhaka University.
The Prime Minister was addressing a special programme titled 'Youth, Startups and the Bangladesh of Possibilities' at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the University of Dhaka on Tuesday morning. The event was organised by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division in collaboration with the University of Dhaka.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Prime Minister said, "The journey is not easy. You will have to overcome various challenges, adversities and obstacles to achieve success. However, with determination, perseverance and self-confidence, success is possible."
Tarique Rahman shared his personal experiences and said, "Patience and dedication have no alternative in achieving one's goals.
Chairing the programme, University of Dhaka Vice-chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam stressed that in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, language technologies, digital identity systems and data-driven governance, there is no alternative to equipping young people with new skills and innovative capabilities.
He encouraged students to overcome the fear of failure and utilise their talent, curiosity and creativity to contribute to national development.
Professor Islam also praised the ICT Division's initiatives, including mentoring, training, prototype development, incubation and investment linkages, saying that these would help transform innovative ideas into successful ventures.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam MP and Prime Minister's Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Rehan Asif Asad, attended the programme as special guests.
The event featured a documentary on Bangladesh's startup ecosystem, experience-sharing sessions by successful entrepreneurs, an interactive discussion between the Prime Minister and students, and the distribution of grant cheques to selected startup founders.
