PM to inaugurate part of Ctg Elevated Expressway today

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 13: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate a portion of the Elevated Expressway in the port city tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Tiger-pass to Airport section will open on the day, while the Tiger-pass to Lalkhan Bazar section will open next year as its completion is pending.
Officials stated that about 90 per cent of the work on the first Elevated Expressway from Lalkhan Bazar to Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport has been completed.
This portion of the expressway will be opened to facilitate the movement of the Bangabandhu Tunnel, another major project.
The Project Director and Executive Engineer of Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), Mahfuzur Rahman, mentioned that the project is currently under construction with an estimated cost of Tk 42.98 billion, and is expected to be completed in June 2024.
The Elevated Expressway has been named after former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation and freedom fighter A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury.
Chairman of CDA, M. Zahirul Alam Dubash, stated, "We have modified the design to enhance the security of Chittagong port, the country's main sea port." Construction work on the Elevated Expressway project began in February 2019.
The project was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in July 2017.
