Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has urged Japan to raise investment and expand its cooperation in sectors like skills-and human-resource development.
He made the call during a meeting with Uno Yoshimasa, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, at the Secretariat on Tuesday, officials said.
He also encouraged Japan to recruit more Bangladeshi workers, particularly healthcare professionals, agricultural workers and drivers, to help meet Japan's growing labour demand.
The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan, enhance bilateral investment, promote human resource development and expand economic cooperation, it was learnt.
They also reviewed the progress on major infrastructure projects, including the ongoing MRT project, and discussed ways to deepen infrastructure collaboration between the two countries.
The meeting also touched on the planned inauguration of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 16, with both sides expressing interest in continued cooperation on Bangladesh's infrastructure development.
