She gave the directives in the light of rising road accidents in recent times, during a cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, said Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam.
"The management of road transport was discussed at the cabinet meeting where the Prime Minister has given specific directives to decrease the number of road accidents," Alam told reporters.
"The issue was raised in a cabinet meeting as a number of people died in road accidents after Eid holidays. Even five people died when we just started the meeting," said Alam when asked why the directives were given.
Hasina asked Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan to monitor the issue.
