Police action hurts five during students’ demo

Law enforcers foiled a demonstration of several hundred youths at the city's Bangla Motor intersection on Saturday, reports UNB.

They were marching towards the Prime Minister Office to submit a memorandum seeking a raise of entry age limit for public service.

When the students advanced to Bangla Motor intersection from Shahbagh area, police charged baton to disperse them, leaving five people injured.

Of them three were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

They demanded that the upper age limit for entering the government job be raised to 35 years.

More than 300 students of different universities and colleges staged demonstration in front of National Museum at Shahbagh area around 10:30 am to press home the demand.

Around 11:30 am, they brought out a procession from the area, disrupting traffic movement on the busy road.
