Police constable stabbed to death in city

A police constable was stabbed dead allegedly by muggers in the city's Farmgate area early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Maniruzzaman Talukdar, 45, a constable of DC (Tejgaon) Traffic Division and hailing from Sherpur district.

He went to his village home at Sribordi upazila in Sherpur district for celebrating Eid-ul- Adha.

He arrived at Farmgate area from Sherpur by

bus on Saturday morning and came under attacked by snatchers at the

said area.

When he reached Sejan point of Indira Road, a group of miscreants stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured.

Later, he was taken to Suhrawardy Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Police suspected that muggers might have killed him. He was the son of Abul Kasem and Morsheda Begum.

His family members demanded exemplary punishment to those who are involved with the incident.
