Police on Monday recovered two bodies from inside a car parked in the basement of Sirajul Islam Medical College in the capitals' Mouchak area.
Security guards discovered the bodies around 11:45 AM on the day.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam told the media that they have found the bodies inside a white private car.
He said that the names of the two deceased were identified as Jakir and Mizan. They hailed from Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali. They were aged around 40.
He said that Jakir was the driver of the car while Mizan was his relative. He said that police have identified the owner of the car.
Mr Masud Alam said the name of the car owner is Zubair Ahmed Sourav hailing from Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali district.
He said that they (two deceased) came to the hospital (Dhaka city) for bring home a patient who was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Quoting hospital staff, the police officer (Mr Masud Alam) further said that the vehicle entered the parking area around 5:30 AM on Sunday, with the driver saying it was carrying a patient.
By Monday noon, security personnel reached out to the police after seeing people inside the car but got no response when they knocked on the windows. The car's registration number is Dhaka Metro Ga 36-3745.
Of the two deceased, one of the bodies was found in the driver's seat and the other was in the back seat Mr Masud Alam said that a team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the spot and collected the samples.
He said that the two dead bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical Hospital for autopsy and then the actual cause of death will be ascertained.
